Achievements, challenges and global implications of China’s carbon neutral pledge

摘要: China has been committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. China’s pledge of carbon neutrality will play an essential role in galvanising global climate action, which has been largely deferred by the Covid-19 pandemic. China’s carbon neutrality could reduce global warming by approximately 0.2–0.3 °C and save around 1.8 million people from premature death due to air pollution. Along with domestic benefits, China’s pledge of carbon neutrality is a “game-changer” for global climate action and can inspire other large carbon emitters to contribute actively to mitigate carbon emissions, particularly countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) routes. In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, it is necessary to decarbonise all sectors in China, including energy, industry, transportation, construction, and agriculture. However, this transition will be very challenging, because major technological breakthroughs and large-scale investments are required. Strong policies and implementation plans are essential, including sustainable demand, decarbonizing electricity, electrification, fuel switching, and negative emissions. In particular, if China can peak carbon emissions earlier, it can lower the costs of the carbon neutral transition and make it easier to do so over a longer time horizon. China’s pledge of carbon neutrality by 2060 and recent pledges at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) are significant contributions and critical steps for global climate action. However, countries worldwide need to achieve carbon neutrality to keep the global temperature from growing beyond the level that will cause catastrophic damages globally.

Decitabine induces -mediated immune responses in p53-mutated triple-negative breast cancer: a clinical

摘要: p53 is mutated in half of cancer cases. However, no p53-targeting drugs have been approved. Here, we reposition decitabine for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a subtype with frequent p53 mutations and extremely poor prognosis. In a retrospective study on tissue microarrays with 132 TNBC cases, DNMT1 overexpression was associated with p53 mutations (P = 0.037) and poor overall survival (OS) (P = 0.010). In a prospective DEciTabinE and Carboplatin in TNBC (DETECT) trial (NCT03295552), decitabine with carboplatin produced an objective response rate (ORR) of 42% in 12 patients with stage IV TNBC. Among the 9 trialed patients with available TP53 sequencing results, the 6 patients with p53 mutations had higher ORR (3/6 vs. 0/3) and better OS (16.0 vs. 4.0 months) than the patients with wild-type p53. In a mechanistic study, isogenic TNBC cell lines harboring DETECT-derived p53 mutations exhibited higher DNMT1 expression and decitabine sensitivity than the cell line with wild-type p53. In the DETECT trial, decitabine induced strong immune responses featuring the striking upregulation of the innate immune player IRF7 in the p53-mutated TNBC cell line (upregulation by 16-fold) and the most responsive patient with TNBC. Our integrative studies reveal the potential of repurposing decitabine for the treatment of p53-mutated TNBC and suggest IRF7 as a potential biomarker for decitabine-based treatments.

Progress in systemic therapy for triple-negative breast cancer

摘要: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer with a heterogeneous genetic profile. Chemotherapy exhibits substantial activity in a small subset of these patients. Drug resistance is inevitable. Major progress has been made in the genetic analysis of TNBC to identify novel targets and increase the precision of therapeutic intervention. Such progress has translated into major advances in treatment strategies, including modified chemotherapy approaches, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and targeted therapeutic drugs. All of these strategies have been evaluated in clinical trials. Nevertheless, patient selection remains a considerable challenge in clinical practice.

Field validation of UHPC layer in negative moment region of steel-concrete composite continuous girder

摘要: Improving the cracking resistance of steel-normal concrete (NC) composite beams in the negative moment region is one of the main tasks in designing continuous composite beam (CCB) bridges due to the low tensile strength of the NC deck at pier supports. This study proposed an innovative structural configuration for the negative bending moment region in a steel-concrete CCB bridge with the aid of ultrahigh performance concrete (UHPC) layer. In order to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of this new UHPC jointed structure in the negative bending moment region, field load testing was conducted on a newly built full-scale bridge. The newly designed structural configuration was described in detail regarding the structural characteristics (cracking resistance, economy, durability, and constructability). In the field investigation, strains on the surface of the concrete bridge deck, rebar, and steel beam in the negative bending moment region, as well as mid-span deflection, were measured under different load cases. Also, a finite element model for the four-span superstructure of the full-scale bridge was established and validated by the field test results. The simulated results in terms of strains and mid-span deflection showed moderate consistency with the test results. This field test and the finite element model results demonstrated that the new configuration with the UHPC layer provided an effective alternative for the negative bending moment region of the composite beam.

Prognostic value of the 21-gene recurrence score in ER-positive, HER2-negative, node-positive breastcancer was similar in node-negative diseases: a single-center study of 800 patients

摘要: Multi-gene assays have emerged as crucial tools for risk stratification in early-stage breast cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of the 21-gene recurrence score (RS) in Chinese patients with pN0-1, estrogen receptor-positive (ER ), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2 ) breast cancer. Among 800 patients recruited between 2009 and 2016, the median RS was 24 (0–69), with 27.4%, 46.8%, and 25.9% patients classified into low-, intermediate-, and high-risk groups. Cox regression analysis demonstrated that the high-risk category was associated with significantly higher odds of invasive disease-free survival (IDFS) and distant disease-free survival (DDFS) events compared with the low-risk category (IDFS: HR= 2.450, 95% CI 1.017–5.902, = 0.046; DDFS: HR= 2.829, 95% CI 1.013–7.901, = 0.047). No significant association between RS category and overall survival (OS) was found (intermediate vs. low: HR= 1.244, 95% CI 0.292–5.297, = 0.768; high vs. low: HR= 2.933, 95% CI 0.759–11.327, = 0.119). RS, as a continuous variable, was a highly significant predictor for IDFS (HR= 1.028, 95% CI 1.010–1.047, = 0.002), DDFS (HR= 1.030, 95% CI 1.010–1.051, = 0.003), and OS (HR= 1.034, 95% CI 1.007–1.063, = 0.014). Our findings suggested that RS may predict IDFS in Chinese patients with ER /HER2 breast cancer with N0 or N1 disease.

硅微z轴谐振陀螺仪负电刚度效应分析及实验验证

摘要:

介绍了在开环工作状态下硅微z轴谐振陀螺仪由于加工工艺缺陷所导致的误差机理。为减小陀螺仪初始电容差和抑制正交耦合误差,提出了一种闭环控制检测策略。重点分析了其力矩反馈器的电刚度效应并给出其线性数学模型表示式。通过对硅微z轴陀螺仪敏感模态的反馈力与谐振频率的关系分析,间接得出了在敏感方向上电负刚度与力矩器所施电压的内在联系,并在实验上进一步验证电刚度效应。这将为下一步闭环控制方案的设计奠定重要基础。

大直径盾构负环管片拆除及隧道换装技术

摘要:

通过对北京铁路地下直径线2标工程的研究,确定在刀盘改造期间进行负环管片拆除的一系列工作,重点如部分反力架的拆除方法、负环管片的详细拆除方法以及拆除反力架后临时支撑的架设方法,同时就泥水盾构隧道的换装技术进行了叙述,最终在7 d之内成功拆除了7环负环管片,节约了工期,保证了后继施工的材料运输速度。

摘要: Homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) has challenges in ignition timing control, combustion rate control, and operating range extension. In this paper, HCCI combustion was studied in a two-cylinder gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine with negative valve overlap (NVO). A two-stage gasoline direct injection strategy combined with negative valve overlap was used to control mixture formation and combustion. The gasoline engine could be operated in HCCI combustion mode at a speed range of 800–2 200 r/min and load, indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) range of 0.1–0.53 MPa. Dissolved methane in anaerobic effluent: Emission or recovery?

摘要: Various anaerobic processes have been explored for the energy-efficient treatment of municipal wastewater. However, dissolved methane in anaerobic effluent appears to be a barrier towards the energy and carbon neutrality of wastewater treatment. Although several dissolved methane recovery methods have been developed, their engineering feasibility and economic viability have not yet been assessed in a holistic manner. In this perspective, we thus intend to offer additional insights into the cost-benefit of dissolved methane recovery against its emission.
